A SPECIAL PROGRAM OF STARWORKS FOUNDATION
Mimi's Memory in Action
A person can be surrounded by people and still need someone there specifically for them.
Private, one-to-one care for people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias — and relief for the families caring for them. $25 gives one hour.

FROM OUR PRESIDENT
A photograph I understand differently today.
This photograph of my grandmother and me was taken at my wedding rehearsal. It captures a beautiful moment in my life. When I look at it today, I recognize a distance in Mimi's eyes that I did not fully understand at the time.
Her expression did not define her, and a person's eyes alone cannot diagnose Alzheimer's disease. Still, families are often the first to sense that something is changing.
Mimi lived with our family for approximately five years. Caring for her taught me that Alzheimer's affects far more than memory. It changes safety, independence, routines, relationships, responsibilities, and the emotional wellbeing of an entire family.
When words and recognition become difficult, love can still be communicated through presence, touch, familiar music, patience, and compassionate care.

THE PROGRAM
Turning one family's memory into care for others.
Mimi's Memory in Action funds private, nonmedical care for people living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia. Alzheimer's care is the program's first focus, not the boundary of what it may become.
WHY INDIVIDUAL CARE MATTERS
Some people living with Alzheimer's spend long stretches alone at home without supervision or companionship. Others live in assisted living communities, personal care homes, or nursing facilities where shared staffing cannot always allow for the individual attention they need.
THE FIRST 100 HOURS
Starworks Foundation is funding the first 100 hours of care, an initial commitment of approximately $2,500. That founding commitment begins the work. It does not place a ceiling on it. Community contributions extend care to more individuals and families.
WHAT PERSONALIZED CARE MAY INCLUDE

Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming and daily personal care
-
Meal preparation, mealtime companionship, and assistance with eating
-
Safety monitoring, supervision, redirection, and support with daily routines

Services are based on individual needs, safety considerations, living environment, caregiver qualifications, program guidelines, and provider availability. These services provide supplemental nonmedical support and do not replace required facility staffing, skilled nursing care, medical treatment, or formal therapy.
Your dignity matters. Your safety matters. Your comfort matters.
You deserve to be seen and personally supported.

Care hours may be arranged in full day, partial day, evening, weekend, or shorter visit schedules based on individual needs, caregiver availability, and approved program guidelines. Every hour matters — whether a contribution provides one hour of companionship or an extended period of individualized support, it becomes part of an ongoing commitment to help vulnerable individuals feel safer, more supported, and less alone.
A GROWING LEGACY OF CARE
Each year on World Alzheimer's Day, Starworks Foundation will report the hours of care funded and provided, recognize the collective impact of our community, and announce the next commitment for expanding care.

UNDERSTANDING THE SIGNS
Dementia is not a normal part of aging.
Alzheimer's is the most common cause, but changes in memory and thinking can have many possible causes. A timely medical evaluation helps families understand what may be happening and what support may help.
-
Memory loss that disrupts daily life
-
Difficulty planning or solving familiar problems
-
Confusion about time or place
-
Trouble finding words when speaking or writing
-
Difficulty completing familiar activities
-
Changes in judgment or decision making
-
Withdrawal from work or social activities
-
Changes in mood, behavior, or personality
One or more of these changes does not necessarily mean a person has Alzheimer's disease. Depression, medication effects, infections, vitamin deficiencies, and other conditions can cause similar symptoms. The Alzheimer's Association offers information, local support and a 24-hour helpline at alz.org · 800-272-3900.
